Mystery Barstool Contest

Let's see who is watching the clock tick to five on Friday... but first, a story.

I went into my daughter's class this week for career day to discuss the various careers in publishing. For my visual aid I brought in a class set of magazines. The children were bright, attentive, and polite, asking thoughtful questions when given the chance. After I answered half a dozen questions or so, I called on a little girl in the back of the room who was looking at my column.

"What's the Mystery Barstool Contest?" she wanted to know.

Not your typical moment in 4th grade.

So here is the January installment of our Mystery Barstool Contest. For those of you just tuning in, this is a contest for grown-ups (21 & older please.) If you can identify the restaurant that is home to this barstool, you will win a gift certificate to the establishment.

This one should present a challenge.

AM,

I am going to call it T. J. Elliott's. I went to their halloween party last year in 06-0 to listen to the Crayfish.

I stayed late at work this Friday too.

TJ's is going to host our next big event after the March Madness Mixer. Details are being worked out.

Mike, I thought this one might have been out of your territory, but Bowie & Crofton are kind of like sisters. Can you wait until the March event to collect? It's fun to make a spectacle, isn't it?

I'm glad you all recognized it! Sometimes TJ Elliott's feels like Cheers to me.

AM,

I have no problem in waiting until the March event to collect my prize winnings.

I lived in Bowie for 6 months while my home was under construction in Crofton 7 years ago. I used to drive by T. J. Elliot's to and from work. You are right about one thing. I am not as familiar with most of the other establishments as over in the Bowie Town Center area.

Who knows, if I get enough publicity in the Magazine, I might even get married off -- then disqualified from any future winning. Until then, I will remain a very formidable opponent.

AM,

I know the February 08 issue of the Magazine is the Nuptual or Bridal/Wedding issue. I think the only way I would be in that one at this late an hour is by a special invitation or an offer of an all expense paid wedding and honeymoon. I think you and the Magazine are very safe on winning that bet.

AM,

That's it !!!!! a too early of a wedding for me in Feb. drives me into a March Madness existential meltdown.

I then head out to all the bars and just keep winning all of the mystery bar stool contests out there --- its a win-win situation.

Thats not saying that some lucky gal may not rescue me from this otherwise viscious cycle.
