Semantics

I was recently discussing sematics with a commrade in singlehood and wanted to pass the debate along.

Is it Meet Market or Meat Market?

We were discussing the merits of this dance. Maybe some folks are nervous about events labled for singles. There are regulars. Someone else might identify you as a newbie on the scene.

But so what, is my question. I think it is good to put yourself in different situations. To quote Christine Lavin, "There's a very fine line between a groove and a rut."

So if you are feeling a bit in a rut, or if you are looking for a possible new groove, then maybe I'll see you Friday at the dance.

There were 12 of us who went to this dance the first time. We all danced with each other and had a great time. Everyone was polite and the dance floor is huge.

AM,

Almost sounds like a Physics Lesson -- get ready to take a Quantum Leap.

Actually I am a very adventuresome person and willing to try something new and different. Problem is - been there and done that already.

After having gone 2-3 times I got quite bored. Perhaps I could have AADHD --- being distracted by too much activity and not enough real substance.

In regards to the semantics issue at hand....it is meat market.

AM,

What a hoot !!! you speak of the semantic difference between a groove and a rut --- and then show a pic of the Grand Canyon --demonstrating both a poignant and yet a subtle sense of humor --- I'm throwing in some bonus "babe points" for you on this one!!! Who knows --- You may even end up winning my constest !!!!

AM,

The true test of a "meat market" is when you have to tie a pork chop around her neck at the Bowie Singles Dance in order to get the guys to dance with her.

Sorry, I just had to politically incorrect humor you back on this one.

Women don't need to dance "with" anyone. I always appreciate men who dance when it is not a slow dance, although slow dancing can be quite memorable.

I love the people watching aspect of a place like this too. I can't help it. I start making up stories about the people I observe. If you sit at my table, I may require that you play!

I often play "married or not married" when observing couples in public, but at a singles dance I might have to vary that game.

Thanks for the Bonus Babe Points. I've never earned those before!

Money Girl, I'm hoping to meet you Friday!

AM,

Sounds to me like you have some latent voyeristic tendencies plus a very over-active imagination. This is actually a positive sign of a very creative individual. I may just have to take you up on your offer to come join your table. Only problem is I have another function to attend for this Sat. eve.

Do you accept rainchecks ?

AM,

I'm always up for dancing...As long as they don't require me to stand in a straight line!

I look forward to meeting some more people from the Crofton area.
